In an effort to save money some people decide to do everything on their own. So, they wash their own cars, sew their own outfits and even plant their own fruits and vegetables. Although the do-it-yourself attitude may work in the aforementioned cases, there are some instances where it may not be such a good idea. For instance, it’s probably not the best idea for someone without the proper skill level to try to do the job of a plumber. This even goes for tasks that are seemingly small such as unclogging a toilet.
Getting a clogged toilet is something that many people experience at some point in time. Because it is so common, there are some who believe they are capable of effectively handling the issue. So, instead of calling a professional plumber, they try to solve the problem on their own. However, there’s a reason that there are professionals for these types of tasks. Everyone isn’t equipped to handle them.
Imagine that there was a middle-aged man who was working to save up for a new car. In his quest to save, he ended up taking things to the extreme. In other words, he neglected things he should have actually spent money on. So, when his toilet became clogged, he didn’t think twice about trying to solve the problem on his own.
Because he had never dealt with this particular issue before, he didn’t really know exactly what to do. So, he went online to look for instructional videos along with advice columns to see if he could get some good advice. After skimming a few articles and looking through a few videos, he decided that the task was much easier to accomplish than he had first thought. So, he didn’t look at the instructions as thoroughly as he should have.
So, after about only 30 minutes he went into his restroom and prepared to solve the issue. After nearly an hour had passed, he was still struggling with the problem. In fact, the toilet had become more stopped up than it was before. So, he finally stopped for a few minutes to think the situation over. The thought of hiring a plumber crossed his mind. However, he also thought about the new car that he wanted. So, he went right back to work, thinking he was doing the smart thing.
After another exhausting hour had passed, he finally decided to give up. He had to be at work in less than an hour and there was no way he would be able to fix the toilet before then. So, he gave in and decided that he would call a professional plumber as soon as he got home.
