Septic tank problems can arise from different factors and can be in different levels of difficulty to solve. Most of these problems are caused by wastes being fed into the septic tank. Water content of the tank can be greatly reduce by installing water saving devices such as shower heads, implementing use of basins instead of using flowing water in cleaning and practicing proper water-saving habits to avoid septic tank problems. There are oxygen-based bleaches available that can be used in disinfecting the bathroom. These are less harmful to the beneficial bacteria in the tanks. Chemicals like paints and thinners must be disposed of properly and are not to be flush in the septic drains. Proper waste disposal management of solid wastes must be practice at all times. Non-biodegradable solids, no matter how small they may be can be damaging to the septic system. Eliminating their entry to the tanks eliminates problems that may arise form them.
After some time, commonly several years, the solid wastes that settled on the tank may reach a certain level that the system is rendered ineffective. Pumping out of these accumulated wastes must be done in order to return the system into proper condition. Regular pumping of the tank is one way of ensuring the system to be in working condition and free from septic tank problems.
It is however important to note that septic problems, will definitely show after sometime. Proper usage and care of the septic tank can lengthen its time of effective use. Taking preventive measures to address those septic tank problems may just save the owner in high costs of repair juts to maintain a healthier working septic system.
