Quando sospettare una perdita nel sistema idraulico

If you are like most people, having your plumbing lines checked and maintained regularly is something that is not among your upper priority. Many people tend to ignore things that they do not see, and as water continues to flow out of taps and hoses, most people assume that everything is still in tip-top shape.

A small leak in the system might not cause immediate inconvenience to a house or a commercial building, but if left to its own devices for a long time, that small leak can cause serious damage to your property.

Is a Leak That Important?

Think of your structure as a human body, and the plumbing system is the network of veins and arteries responsible for bringing blood to and from every important organ. Having a small nick in a vein or artery will not cause much damage so as to impede its natural flow. But when the leak has accumulated into spaces where it should not be, then you start to notice the serious problems.

Your house or building is the same way. Just because you cannot see the network of pipes does not mean that they are as good as new. They will not remain as fresh as the day the workers laid them out; even the sturdiest of metals deteriorate over time, and lead is a poor, soft metal alloy to begin with.

What are the Signs That There Might Be a Leak?

A telltale sign of a long-standing underground leak are cracks along the walls. All structures deteriorate over time, too, but if your single-storey house has cracks in barely 5 years of its construction, you should have your pipes checked. A leak might be causing the ground to soften into marsh, and it might be causing your house to sink and lose its balanced foundation.

Another sign of leaks are the presence of molds and termites. These organisms love moist places, so if you have no other reason to suspect why your house might be moist, suspect a leak in the water system.

One more sign that there could be problems with your pipes is having a constant humid environment indoors. A quick check to confirm this is a constant fog or moist condensation on your glass windows even during the summer. You can also get a hygrometer to check for the humidity inside your home.

Don’t Ignore Your Building’s Pipes

To make sure your house or building will last for as long as you do, have your plumbing system regularly checked and maintained. It pays to pay a few extra dollars every few years to have your solid structure in tip-top shape.
