It is not much of a task to install Insulated PEX pipe, but still, you must know the exact way and tools that will be used to install the pipe successfully. One thing that adds to the advantage of Insulated PEX is its flexibility and another is its light weight. This makes it much easier to handle and install. Since it is already insulated, so additional insulation is not required because PEX is corrosion and rust resistant. The pre-Insulated pipe further helps in keeping the hot water heated for a very long time due to less loss of energy to the surrounding environment.

When you begin with the installation, you will need Mallet, Drill and drill bits, Plumber’s tape, Chalk for marking, Suitable wrench, PEX threaded fittings, PEX crimping iron, Supply valves, Shovel, Timber and Insulated PEX pipe.

To begin with, mark the route of pipe with chalk. Then place the pipe and mark locations for drilling holes. In case you are installing pipe in ground and temperature is sub-zero for long, then use timber for frost-prevention of pipes.

The next step is to drill holes at places where you marked. Connect the pipe together and then play them on floor to double-check if they are securely and tightly connected or no.

Fix a PEX threaded fitting at one end of pipe with a crimping ring properly and tightly. Do the crimping as and where required and then proceed to supply valve connection at the crimped end. Now use mallet to seat the vale properly and then use wrench to tighten it. Without over-tightening any valve, repeat the process till every valve is secure.

Crimp the water supply hose and then connect it to main water supply hose. Use wrench and tighten them together. Double-check the joint to prevent leakage. After the installation of Insulated PEX pipe is over, test the system to ensure proper functioning.
